Center for Charter School Quality

The OAPCS Center for Charter School Quality (CCSQ) offers core services that include a robust data and assessment partnership, information technology consulting services, onsite professional development and a quality workshop series. Additionally, we are currently seeking OAPCS member schools to partner and collaborate with in state, federal and foundation grant opportunities.

If you would like information about our current services or funding opportunities, please contact Jesse Truett, Chief Operations Officer, at jtruett@oapcs.org or 614-744-2266 ext. 212.

CCSQ has three major initiatives:

Data Management

CCSQ is focused on creating a data-driven culture in Ohio’s public charter schools. This is delivered by assisting schools track student data and assessments with a customized web-based Instructional Improvement System (IIS) known as Illuminate Education TM. The Illuminate system serves as a data warehouse to track student scores on standardized tests, benchmark assessments and classroom specific assignments. Additionally, CCSQ provides customized, quality support related to data teams, classroom instruction and managing performance results at both the classroom and school level.

In Spring 2014, the Arts and College Preparatory Academy was awarded a Straight A grant as part of a consortium of 17 charter schools to help implement a new data and assessment system. The OAPCS performance team is currently working with the consortium to implement the Straight A grant. Learn about the Straight A Grant Program here. To learn more about how OAPCS is expanding its data management program through a grant from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, click here.

Professional Development

The Center for Charter School Quality provides ongoing professional development opportunities through onsite trainings, workshops and symposiums.

Topics include:

  • Curriculum and assessment
  • Special Education programming and implementation
  • Legal, ethical and labor aspects of school operations
  • Leadership and accountability
  • Compliance finance and audits

During the past two years, CCSQ hosted ten Quality Workshops for nearly 400 people. Workshops presented include Know Your Accountability Data, STRS/SERS Community School Training and Special Education. Click here for more details on upcoming workshops.

Technology Services

CCSQ offers information technology consulting at a fraction of the cost of most vendors, which includes assistance in: needs assessment, technology plans and acceptable use policies, discounts for software and hardware purchases, and E-rate guidance.
